When the world speaks of Life Affirmations, the image above is what they think of. It reminds me of that skit from Saturday Night Live with Stuart Smalley (click here for video). “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and dog-gone it! People like me.”

We aren’t knocking positive thinking and encouragement! But we’d like to take it a step further. What are some things in our lives that are life affirming? Or even non-life affirming?

Here is one example:

Jon Grant, a former Navy Seal was hurt in a car accident with a traumatic brain injury. His wife Laura has stood by him, spending ten hours a day in the rehab facility with him. She’s a pilates instructor and often works out beside him. What a testimony to true love. She admits to mourning the life they were supposed to have, but is now embracing the “beautiful” life they have ahead. Life may not be exactly as she planned, but she’s planning to live it to the fullest with her husband. That is truly life affirming.
